Antarctica Day 6 - Ice Edge
December 28, 2014 to January 9, 2015
In the afternoon we were supposed to go to Base Esperanza, but unfortunately the winds kicked up to 40-45 knots and we were not able to go. But despite the lack of a second excursion today, we ended up having a really amazing afternoon and evening. The ship captain cruised up and down the edge of the pack ice, trying to push as far south into the Weddell Sea as we could, which was just incredible. Tabular icebergs, pack ice and penguins - what more do you need. In the evening (at 11pm!) the sunset was absolutely spectacular. For a day being stuck on the boat - not too shabby.
