Antarctica Day 5 - Spert Island
December 28, 2014 to January 9, 2015
In the afternoon we went out for a zodiac cruise around Spert Island. It was an amazing excursion – going past all the beautiful icebergs and landscapes. And when you heard the crash of ice nearby, all heads quickly turned to try to catch the landscape changing minute by minute. Taking photos on the zodiacs becomes a game of ducking and standing. If the view is on your side of the boat, you turn-around and kneel over the edge so the other side can also see. And if it is on the other side you either stay seated or stand up to take a photo. Surprisingly exhausting...but so worth it!

Anyway - a beautiful afternoon cruising past the many icebergs, including this magnificent arch. Too bad we couldn't go through it (safety first)! Another fun part of the day was watching the penguins jump on and off the icebergs. They wait for a wave to come up to the height of the iceberg they are on and then - waddle waddle...almost...nope, not this time! Try again - the wave is just perfect - in they go! Hilarious...
